Project Description

Covering Kids & Families Rhode Island is a four-year health insurance access initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funds similar initiatives in more than 40 states, with technical assistance provided to grantees by the Southern Institute on Children and Families. The goals of Covering Kids & Families Rhode Island are to enroll  and retain all eligible children and parents in RIte Care, simplify enrollment and renewal processes and coordianted existing health coverage programs. Covering Kids & Families local projects are Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls. Each of these communities develops and implements specific health insurance outreach strategies under the leadership of the local Covering Kids & Families Coordinator and the Statewide Project Director.

Additional local funding for Covering Kids & Families Rhode Island is provided by Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, The Rhode Island Foundation, CVS Charitable Trust, Prince Charitable Trusts, CVS Charity Classic, St. Joseph Hospital for Specialty Care, The Annie E. Casey Foundation, Ocean State Charities Trust, UnitedHealthcare of New England, and The March of Dimes - Rhode Island Chapter.



Local Project Description:

Providence- The focus of the Providence Project is to design and implement strategies within hospitals and other primary health care sites. The coalition leader is St. Joseph Hospital for Specialty Care.

Pawtucket- The focus of the Pawtucket Project is to design and implement adult focused enrollment strategies. The coalition leader is netWORKri.

Central Falls- The focus of the Central Falls Project is to build a strong network of application assistance sites to enroll Latino and immigrant children. The coalition leader is Progreso Latino.
