Health Insurance Coverage and Poverty Data
According to the latest U.S. Census Bureau data, 17.5% of Rhode Island's children under age 18 lived in poverty in 2007, up from 15.1% in 2006. 6.9% of Rhode Island children were uninsured in the three year period from 2005-2007, compared with 6.4% of children 2004-2006. Rhode Island ranks 11th in the nation for children's health insurance coverage.
