National Mental Health Association
A professional organization addressing mental health and mental illness in the United States. Website includes news, resources, and policy tracking links.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI)
NAMI is a national nonprofit organization to support and advocate for those affected by severe mental illness. Website includes information, support, and advocacy links, including links specific to children and adolescents with mental illnesses.

Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health
A national family-run organization seeking to influence systems and policies which affect children with mental illnesses. Website includes resources for groups and individuals who wish to increase family involvement in decision-making.

National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center
Includes sections on early childhood mental health, social emotional development and challenging behavior. The site includes links to definitions, legislation, initiatives, organizations, foundations, research centers and supports.

American Psychiatric Association
A professional organization of psychiatrists. News/information for mental health professionals, including research, education, and employment resources.

Department of Education (DOE), Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS)
OSERS funds and oversees programs including programs for mentally ill young people and their families. The website includes links to those programs as well as to OSERS publications.

American College of Mental Health Administration (AMCHA)
AMCHA is a professional membership organization concerned with promoting best practices in mental health and addiction services to children and adults. Website includes resources for professionals, including an online library, message board, and links to other organizations.

National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare
Represents the providers of mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability services. Links to current issues in public policy and training opportunities for professionals.

Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), Children’s Behavioral Health and Education
DCYF provides mental health services to children up to age 21. The website lists and explains the services offered through DCYF.

Rhode Island Department of Mental Health, Retardation, and Hospitals
MHRH funds, oversees, and administers services for Rhode Island residents with specific disabilities, including behavioral health services. The website includes lists of service providers, rules, regulations and procedures followed by those providers, and links to related websites. Also includes meeting schedules and agendas for the Governor’s Council on Behavioral Health.

Rhode Island Council of Community Mental Health Organizations (RICCMHO)
RICCMHO brings together nine community mental health organizations to pool resources and advocate for the mentally ill. The website includes a list of members and their contact information, links to service providers in specific cities/towns, advocacy opportunities, and links to other websites.

Rhode Island Council of Service Providers for Children, Youth, and Families (RICORP)
Provides support for direct service providers. Website includes links to member agencies and descriptions of training offered by RICORP.

Rhode Island Health Center Association
RIHCA concentrates on the delivery of quality health care to underserved populations. The website provides information mainly for its health centers, coordinating and improving statewide care. Rhode Island Parent Information Network (RIPIN)

Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS)
Through the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). General information on child and adolescent mental health, summaries of federal programs, links to relevant government websites and publications.

National Institute for Mental Health (NIMH)
Provides information on specific mental illnesses, research, and funding opportunities for professionals.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Mental Health Work Group
Data, statistics, and resources related to mental health, and a state by state list of mental health organizations.

Maternal and Child Health Library Child and Adolescent Mental Health Knowledge Path
Resources, including web links and publications, compiled at Georgetown University with the purpose of improving the mental health of young people. Contains information/resources for policymakers, research and health professionals, and program administrators, including an A-Z index and links to professional organizations.

The NGA Center for Best Practices
An information clearinghouse and resource for state-level policymakers in all policy areas, including mental health.
